Poetry Wednesday

Prompt Word:  Vengeance

Vengeance (Never Piss Off a Writer)

wreak vengeance with my pen

Speak compassion with these words
Hide wrath behind my eyes

Abuse of my kindness enrages me,
Douses gasoline into the core of my bones
Flaming the fire
That the ice in my veins cannot contain

Place a shield of armor around emotions
That pound relentless against these walls to get out
                but won't
                but can't
                but eventually will

Wreak vengeance with my pen

Each stroke slices through
A raging silence
To quiet your hate
            your ignorance
            your complaints
of things you will never understand

Saved you the rain
But kept the lightning for myself
To enhance the way I illuminate
each self-satisfying notion
and divine tragedy
I write for you

                   Can hate me

                          Still, I

Wreak vengeance with my pen

Scar feelings with this ink
Inflict havoc with these words
With your life story played out on
                            each line
                            each page
                            each chapter.

Wreak vengeance with my pen

Words that flow onto paper are hollow
They can never capture the true reflection
of malice glaring from
                    Your Eyes
                    My retinas

The hate bounces around in my brain
Only to Leak out in the form of

I wreak vengeance with my pen.

Fantasy and freelance writer, K.N. Lee, nominated me for this awesome award.  Her Tweets and daily writing prompts are pretty amazing, as well as her short stories and fan fictions.  The Galloway Lake is still my favorite and I will shamelessly say I wish it were at least a novella so we could learn more.  Click on over and check out my review for her debut novel, The Chronicles of Koa.

You can find K.N. Lee at Write Like A WizardThe Chronicles of Koa, Facebook, and Twitter.

7 Random and Writerly Things About Me

1)  I graduated culinary school in North Carolina a few years ago, yet I refuse to work in a restaurant.  Why?  The Man tries to hold me back on the creative front, so I work out of my house when I’m not bogged down with nursing school.

2)  My first piece of fiction was written in first grade.  The teacher instructed the class to write something interesting about our summer.  Even back then I was boring, so I made up an entire 6 weeks’ worth of goodness.

3)  I am an Army wife . . . no, it’s nothing like the show.

4)  A question I'm always asked is why don’t I put my writing “out there” more?  The answer is:  Because I am, essentially, a weenie.  You can judge me now.  Go ahead.  I’ll wait.

5)  There are 2 things you cannot do in my house:  1) Speak hateful words and 2) Leave hungry . . . I am a southerner, you will gain 3 lbs before you leave.  You're welcome.

6)  I have soundtracks for every short story, novella, and book I have written/am writing.  I make a playlist page so anyone who reads them can get a feel for the moods of my characters.  I also reference scenes on the aforementioned playlists.

7)  I am extremely shy.  I'm that person who turns beet red at any little thing. I bite my lip when I'm concentrating really hard.  Yeah.  Not proud of either one of those.

My Nominations: In Random Order

YA Highway's Road Trip Wednesday

YA Highway

Not sure about Road Trip Wednesday?  Well how about you just click on over to YA Highway and see what all the fuss is about!  Why?  Because that's what awesome people do.  You're welcome.

This Week's Topic

Quarterly Check-In: We did one back in March, so now that we're just past the halfway point of the year, how are you doing on your goals?

It's been months since I've done a RTW!

I set a goal on the Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge to read 105 books this year.  So far I'm 55 books in and my TBR pile is growing . . . weekly.  I should be ashamed of myself for purchasing so many books.

My writing goals were slipping majorly at the start of 2013.  My husband had just returned from Korea in November and was already announced to be deployed in May/June--and we had just moved to a new military base--so the entire beginning of 2013 can only be described as "crap."  Yes, my vocabulary is that extensive.

My blogging, writing, and editing are now going strong; I've even found a new critique partner!  After much consideration I have decided to self-publish my New Adult Suspense, Bottom Feeder, in August.  Don't worry, I will not do a shameless promo here.  I promise.  lol  I'm also working on a Young Adult Contemporary that I will try to traditionally publish.  Who knows where that will take me or if it will even happen, but I am nothing if not hopeful and determined.

I hope everyone else is having an AMAZING 2013 so far!!
